Central Presbyterian Church practices infant baptism, believing that God’s love for us precedes any response we might make to God, and that the children of believers are included in God’s covenant family. Baptized children are welcome to participate in the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper. Infant baptism is not required, however, and parents may make this decision in consultation with the pastor. Baptism of adults and confirmands also happen regularly.
People who wish to join Central and have been baptized in other churches and other denominations are not required to be re-baptized in order to join. We understand baptism to be a one-time sacrament and do not offer rebaptism. We do periodically offer opportunities to participate in a renewal of baptism vows service of re-dedication.
